Black Stars winger Christopher Bonsu Baah has shared an emotional message after Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country despite not making an appearance during the tournament.
The 21-year-old, who arrived at the World Cup in impressive form following a strong season with Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah, was an unused member of Carlos Queiroz’s squad throughout the competition.
Ghana’s campaign came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32 in Kansas City, ending the Black Stars’ hopes of progressing to the latter stages.
Although disappointed not to feature on the pitch, Bonsu Baah insisted the experience of being part of Ghana’s World Cup squad was one he would cherish forever.
“Every journey has its own purpose, and this one will always be special to me. Being called up to represent Ghana at the World Cup is something I’ll never take for granted,” he wrote on social media.
The former Genk winger also expressed appreciation to everyone who supported him throughout the tournament.
“Firstly, thanks be to God for His grace, to my family for their support, my teammates and coaches, and to everyone who has believed in me throughout this journey, I’m grateful,” he added.
Despite leaving the tournament without playing a single minute, Bonsu Baah remains optimistic and believes the experience has strengthened his determination for the future.
“Not every blessing comes with the moments you imagine, but every experience brings growth. I leave this tournament even more motivated, more grateful, and more determined for what’s ahead. God bless Ghana.”
The Black Stars squad is expected to return to Ghana following their World Cup exit, with attention now shifting to preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
For Bonsu Baah, the focus will also turn to pre-season with Al Qadsiah as he looks to build on an impressive campaign and force his way into Ghana’s starting lineup for future international assignments.
