Ghanaian coach J. E. Sarpong has called on the government to intervene in the affairs of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), arguing that a temporary FIFA suspension could provide the opportunity to reform and rebuild Ghana football.
Speaking to Bullet TV on the state of football administration in the country, Coach Sarpong expressed concern over what he described as a lack of transparency within the GFA, insisting that the current system is contributing to the decline of the national teams.
He said government intervention, even if it results in a FIFA ban, could create the conditions needed for meaningful reforms.
“I call on the government to intervene in the Black Stars and the GFA, so that FIFA can ban us…”
The veteran tactician explained that, in his view, a suspension would allow Ghana football to undergo a complete reset before returning stronger with improved structures and administration.
Coach Sarpong also accused the football association of operating without sufficient openness, claiming that important matters are being concealed from the public.
“There is a lot of secrecy within the GFA that they hide from the public, and it has led to our abysmal performance.”
He maintained that greater transparency, accountability and structural reforms are essential if Ghana is to restore the Black Stars and other national teams to their former heights.
