Italian-born Ghanaian forward Edimond Oppong has completed a move to Scottish League One side Cove Rangers ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 21-year-old attacker has signed a one-year contract with the club after impressing during a short trial period, where his performances convinced the technical team that he could add quality to their attack.
Oppong featured in pre-season friendlies against Scottish Premiership sides Aberdeen and St Johnstone, showcasing his pace, direct running and attacking versatility before earning a permanent deal.
Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley praised the youngster’s impact during his trial and highlighted the qualities he brings to the team.
“We brought Edi in as a trialist for our opening match against Aberdeen and throughout the first 45 minutes he was sharp, energetic and constantly looked to get on the front foot and cause problems for their left-back,” Hartley said.
“He’s someone who excites supporters because of his pace, his trickery and his willingness to take defenders on. He can play out wide, but he’s also capable of playing through the middle, which gives us another really good attacking option.”
The coach added that Oppong’s work ethic during pre-season played a major role in securing his contract.
“He’s worked hard throughout pre-season, earned his opportunity and we’re delighted to have him with us. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue his development over the season.”
Oppong began his football journey with Union EuroCalcio before moving to England, where he joined Middlesbrough and featured for the club’s Under-21 side.
He later gained senior experience with National League North outfit Hereford before making the switch to Scotland.
The move to Cove Rangers represents a fresh opportunity for the talented forward as he looks to continue his development and establish himself in Scottish football.
