Pressure is mounting on Coach CK Akonnor and his boys to win their remaining Group C two games or risk missing out on qualification 2022 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Ghana, four0time African Champions, on Tuesday afternoon, suffered a 1-0 loss to Sudan at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman in the matchday four fixture.
A win for the Black Stars today would sealed qualification for the team to the 2021 AFCON but failed to even pick a point in the game.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman’s 90th-minute strike ensured the Black Stars suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the end of the game. The results mean that the dream to secure early qualifications has suffered a setback.
With two games left in the qualifiers, Akonnor’s side can’t afford to drop points. Any defeat will mean that Sudan [on 6] points will have a chance of qualifying for the AFCON if the team is able to win its remaining matches.
Meanwhile, South Africa already has 9 points and a further defeat for the Black Stars will see the Bafana Bafana leapfrogging them on the Group C standings.
The Black Stars will do themselves good if they win the remaining two matches to make it to the next Afcon finals.
