Ghana international Andre Ayew has expressed his delight after netting his first goal of the season for Le Havre, despite their crushing 5-1 loss to Olympique Marseille at the Orange Vélodrome.
Ayew, who captains the Black Stars, played 88 minutes in the encounter, which saw Marseille dominate from start to finish. Le Havre struggled to keep pace with the hosts, who produced a commanding display to secure a comfortable victory.
The 33-year-old provided a glimmer of hope for his side by scoring a consolation goal, showcasing his determination even in a difficult match. Reflecting on his performance, Ayew said: “As a forward, you can have a bad match, but when you score, it is considered a good game, and vice versa. I am feeling better. I worked hard during the (Christmas) holidays. I felt it today in this match; the more the match progressed, the more I felt better. I felt better, it bodes well.”
With 10 league appearances so far this season, Ayew will be looking to inspire Le Havre as they aim to recover from their recent setbacks. His contributions will be vital as the club works toward climbing up the Ligue 1 standings.
The experienced forward, who scored six goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for Le Havre during the 2023-2024 campaign, remains a key figure in their attack and will hope his latest goal signals the start of a resurgence.
