Former Black Stars midfielder, Anthony Annan, has dismissed rumors of his retirement from professional football, asserting his active status and determination to prolong his career at 37 years old.
Annan, who most recently played for Arm. Lirich, reaffirmed his confidence in his abilities and expressed his willingness to continue playing despite his age.
Having been a significant figure in Ghanaian football from 2007 to 2013, contributing notably to the Black Stars’ success in the 2010 AFCON and their World Cup quarter-final appearance, Annan has opted to step aside from further involvement with the national team.
In an interview with Pipapipa Media on YouTube, Annan stated, “I’m still Ghanaian and I’ve played for the Black Stars before. For now, some new players deserve the chance to play. We need to support them. I wouldn’t say I’ve retired but I have to step aside for the new players to have the opportunity.”
Addressing the retirement speculations directly, Annan emphasized, “I have not retired yet. I just came to Germany, and I will see about that. If I get the chance to play again, I will. And if I feel I should retire, I will.”
