Asante Kotoko are exploring the possibility of relocating to the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi for the 2024/25 season due to the upcoming closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for renovations.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced a one-month shutdown of Baba Yara Stadium, which follows Ghana’s recent 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
This loss, which ended a 24-year unbeaten streak at the venue, has spotlighted issues with the stadium’s pitch quality, with many attributing the Black Stars’ defeat to the poor playing surface.
In light of these concerns, Kotoko are considering moving their home fixtures to the Len Clay Sports Stadium. The move would impact their scheduled home games against Nsoatreman FC and Young Apostles, initially planned for the early rounds of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The club has engaged in discussions with Anglogold Ashanti regarding the potential relocation and is currently in advanced talks.
The facilities at Len Clay Stadium have been inspected, with final approval from the Ghana Football Association pending.
