Asante Kotoko are reportedly in advanced negotiations with UK-born Ghanaian tactician Chris Baffour-Akoto as the club looks to appoint a new head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
The UEFA A Licence holder has attracted strong interest from the Porcupine Warriors following his impressive work in Ghana’s lower tiers, where he earned praise for his modern, attacking style of play and structured tactical approach.
Baffour-Akoto notably guided Rospak FC to a remarkable second-place finish in the 2024/25 Division One League season, a campaign that significantly raised his profile within Ghanaian football circles.
Kotoko’s management are said to be convinced that his progressive football philosophy, combined with his emphasis on youth development, aligns with the club’s long-term rebuilding project. The club is aiming to restore consistency and reclaim domestic dominance after a challenging campaign.
Discussions between both parties are ongoing, with key details such as contract structure and sporting project expectations still being finalised.
If appointed, Baffour-Akoto would be tasked with reshaping Kotoko’s playing identity and driving the team back to the top of Ghanaian football while also competing strongly in continental competitions.
