Ghana Football Association Executive Council (EXCO) member and Berekum Chelsea’s Director of Legal Affairs, Nana Oduro Sarfo, has sparked controversy with remarks dismissing the status of Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most successful football clubs.
In an interview on Kumasi’s Oyerepa FM, Sarfo boldly compared the Porcupine Warriors to newly promoted Young Apostles, questioning the club’s reputation and the attention they receive.
“What’s so special about Kotoko? They are just like Young Apostles. Stop this hype you’re giving them. You always give their supporters false hopes,” Sarfo declared, criticizing the media and fan expectations around the club.
Sarfo’s comments have added fuel to the already high-stakes Week 4 fixture between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League, scheduled for this weekend at the Golden City Park. Both teams have one win and one draw from their opening matches, with Kotoko eager to silence their critics and reinforce their legacy.
Berekum Chelsea started the season with a draw against Vision FC, followed by a narrow win over Karela United, while Kotoko opened with a victory over Karela and drew against Young Apostles.
