Asante Kotoko deputy captain Justice Blay has called on the club’s fans to turn up in large numbers and support the team as they gear up for the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
The first half of the league season witnessed low attendance at stadiums, a trend that has concerned many players, including Blay, who stressed how vital fan presence is for their performance.
Reflecting on the decline in attendance, Blay expressed his disappointment:
“It’s depressing. I remember when I first joined the club, I couldn’t believe the atmosphere I saw in the tunnel. But things have changed now,” he said during the pre-match press conference ahead of their clash against Karela United.
He further appealed to the Kotoko faithful:
“I’m urging the fans to come to the stadium and support us. Some players thrive when they see fans in the stands, and it pushes us to give our all week-in and week-out.”
Asante Kotoko, determined to reclaim the Premier League title, will host Karela United in Kumasi on Sunday. Blay highlighted the importance of the match, acknowledging the challenge posed by their opponents:
“We are determined to win. I’ve already told my teammates to step up because Karela always gets positive results in Kumasi. We will approach the game with determination.”
The Porcupine Warriors sit in a strong position as the second round begins and hope that a renewed connection with their supporters will fuel their title ambitions.
