Budding Black Stars forward, Joseph Paintsil, has described his feelings after receiving his first call-up to the senior national team earlier this year.
Since he became a professional football player, the Genk player has been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to play for the senior national team.
That opportunity came after he was invited by Milovan Rajevac for the international friendly against Algeria ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, a move he described as dream fulfilling moment.
“I was happy [after my first Black Stars call-up] and it was a dream come true because I’d played for the junior national teams and was waiting for this moment,” he told Joy Sports.
“Although I knew, they [my family] also got to know through the television announcements. My sister called me and they were all happy as we spoke.”
Since making his debut, the Genk winger has gone on to rack up five appearances for the Black Stars including playing his first competitive tournament during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
