Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwesi Appiah, has been successfully elected to the Ghana Football Association Executive Council during the recent election held in Tamale.
Appiah, who previously served as the head coach of the Ghana national team, secured one of the five available slots representing the Ghana Premier League, receiving a total of 10 votes.
The 63-year-old coach submitted his nomination for this position under the banner of the prominent Ghanaian club, Asante Kotoko SC. His appointment to the Interim Management Committee at the club facilitated his candidacy.
James Kwesi Appiah is now a new addition to the committee for the next four years, as a result of his election during the Ghana FA Elective Congress held at the Golden Dream Hotel in the Northern Regional capital.
This closely watched Ghana Football Association election in Tamale has been observed by a FIFA delegation, and it follows GFA President Kurt Okraku’s successful re-election with an impressive 97.1% of the votes, with just two opposing votes cast against his retention. The outcomes of other positions within the federation are still pending.
