Former deputy minister for Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, has called on the Ghana Football Association to name ex-Brighton manager Chris Hughton as the new Black Stars head coach.
The Black Stars coaching role is current vacant following the resignation of Otto Addo after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The FA is set to appoint a new manager and Oppong Asamoah want Hughton who served as a Technical Adviser to Otto Addo in Qatar to be appointed as the new boss of the Black Stars.
“Let’s all be honest, our Black Stars started declining long ago, it did not start today,” Asamoah said.
“I was unhappy Otto Addo resigned because I feel he had enough experience and lessons to correct his mistakes and build a better team for us. I am very sure the Black Stars would have done very well going forward with Otto Addo as the coach.
“Since we have decided to rely on foreign players for the Black Stars, then we don’t need a local coach.
“I will opt for Chris Hughton, I believe he can do the job but should he also fail with the Black Stars, then the problem will be beyound coaching but rather with us as a country.” He concluded.
