Coach Chris Hughton faces a significant setback as Daniel Amartey, the central defender for Black Stars, will be absent from the upcoming match against Central African Republic due to a newly acquired injury.
Daniel Amartey, who plays as a defender based in Turkey, has recently suffered an injury setback. It is anticipated that he will be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks.
This injury is believed to have occurred during a training session, following his full-time participation in the previous competitive game against Dynamo Kiev.
Besiktas JK, the team Amartey is associated with, did not compete over the weekend due to the postponement of their league match against Adana Demirspor.
Unfortunately, he will also be absent from the crucial second-leg encounter against the Ukrainian team at Vodafone Park. This match holds high importance as it will decide their advancement into the 2023/24 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Regrettably, the 28-year-old will be joining a list of injured players from the Black Stars, including fellow center-backs Mohammed Salisu and Gideon Mensah, along with Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Jojo Wollacott, Majeed Ashimeru, and Salis Abdul Samed, all of whom are also sidelined due to injuries.
On a positive note, Baba Rahman and Antoine Semenyo are set to return after missing the previous game against Madagascar due to injuries.
The tall defender’s priority now is to commence his rehabilitation promptly, aiming for a full recovery. The goal is to have him prepared and fit after the international break, ready to face Trabzonspor on September 17th.
