Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Randy Abbey to the Black Stars Management Committee.
This development follows Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a disappointing campaign that saw the team finish bottom of Group F with just three points.
Asante Twum explained that the decision to add Abbey to the committee was part of a review conducted after the Black Stars’ group-stage exit at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
“Randy Abbey has joined the Black Stars Management Committee,” Asante Twum disclosed in an interview with Asempa FM. “Following the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, the FA reviewed the team’s performance and decided to retain Mark Addo and Akwesi Agyeman on the committee while bringing Randy Abbey on board.”
Despite Abbey’s inclusion, Mark Addo remains the Chairman of the Management Committee.
Dr. Randy Abbey, who is also a member of the GFA’s Executive Council, continues to serve as the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Satellites, Ghana’s U-20 national team.
This appointment signals a fresh approach as the GFA seeks to revamp the Black Stars’ leadership amid growing pressure to improve the team’s performance on the international stage.
