Bernard Mensah, the former Ghana international, has officially departed from Kayserispor as his contract with the club expired on June 30, Sportsworldghana.com can report.
Just before the conclusion of the 2022/23 Turkish Super Lig season, the talented attacking midfielder announced his departure from the RHG Enertürk Enerji Stadium team, marking the end of his four-year stint.
In the summer transfer window of 2018, the 28-year-old joined Kayserispor from the renowned Spanish La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid, in a deal valued at €2.80 million. During the 2020/21 season, he was loaned out to Besiktas from Kayserispor.
Throughout his time at Kayserispor, he made 91 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists.
In 2015, Atletico Madrid outbid Manchester United, under the management of Alex Ferguson, by paying six million euros to secure Mensah’s signature from the Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes.
However, he did not make any appearances for Atletico Madrid and was subsequently loaned out to Getafe CF, Kasimpasa, and his former club, Vitoria Guimaraes.
Mensah, who retired prematurely from the senior national team of Ghana in 2021, represented the Black Stars on only four occasions, scoring one goal.
