After guiding FC Samartex to their maiden Ghana Premier League title and securing a spot in the continental competition, coach Nurudeen Amadu recognizes the importance of recruiting experienced players for their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.
Amadu, mindful of the unique challenges posed by African football, aims to emulate the successes of clubs like Medeama and Dreams FC.
Acknowledging the need for seasoned reinforcements, especially given the team’s predominantly lower-division players, Amadu shared his aspirations during an interview with Akoma FM.
“While we celebrate, management will strategize on bolstering the squad with experienced talents for our African journey,” he stated.
Drawing inspiration from Medeama’s impressive debut in the CAF Champions League group stage and Dreams FC’s notable run to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals, Amadu remains optimistic about Samartex’s prospects. “We’ll strive to follow in their footsteps and aim for similar achievements,” he emphasized.
Expressing gratitude to the club’s management for their unwavering support, Amadu reflected on the season’s unexpected triumph. “Our initial goal was modest—to improve on last season’s 10th place,” he revealed. “Winning the league surpasses our wildest dreams.”
Amadu extended special thanks to Ghana FA technical director Prof. Joseph Mintah and the club’s General Manager Edmund Ackah for their trust and support.
As Samartex prepares to be crowned champions in their final home game against Accra Lions, Amadu’s sights are firmly set on continental success in the seasons to come.
