Former Ghana and Asante Kotoko defender Frimpong Manso, has urged officials of the club to invest hugely in their Academy and stop thinking about playing in the Africa inter-club competition.
According to him, the Academy is the future of the club and therefore need to be revamped to meet the modern trend of football Academy which will produce top talents for the club’s senior team.
Life patron and owner of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, recently retained Executive chairman of the club Dr. Kwame Kyei to head a newly constituted nine-member board.
The new Board of Directors, have since been tasked to set-up a very good Academy for the club and the club legend has advised leaders of the club to make the Academy project their topmost priority.
”The Academy is Kotoko future. If it is instituted, the team will be stable forever because that is how the trend of football is going, you can’t be buying players every season. The set-up should even start from the Under 10 and rank through,” Manso told Light FM Sports.
”They should stop thinking about winning Africa and build a solid foundation first and afterwards, it will come automatically.
”The board of directors constituted at Kotoko is good but they should determine the problem of conflict which keeps repeating between them(BoD) and the management from time immemorial. They should come together and work peacefully with a strong laid down structure for the progress of the club.
”There are a lot of things Kotoko can do to honour their old players. They seem neglected. They can display their various pictures at the club’s secretariat, preferential treatment at the stadium or probably involving them in the senior team with their advice,”
