The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante-Twum, has clarified concerns surrounding the condition of buses recently distributed to some Division One League clubs.
As part of its commitment to supporting clubs in the Ghana Premier League and Division One League, the GFA handed over buses to nine clubs in the three Division One zones during a presentation ceremony held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Among the beneficiaries were Young Apostles, Okwahu United, New Edubiase United, Basake Holy Stars, and Vision FC.
However, a video circulating on social media revealed that some of the buses had visibly worn interiors, raising questions about their quality.
Addressing the issue on Joy FM’s Game Plan, Henry Asante-Twum explained that the clubs were informed beforehand that the buses were not brand new. “Clubs were aware the buses were not brand new. I think the problem was with the condition,” he noted.
Asante-Twum acknowledged that it was unfortunate some clubs received buses in poor condition and stressed that the GFA never intended to create additional challenges for the teams. “It was never the intention of the GFA to provide buses that would cause problems for the clubs instead of assisting them,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the remaining buses designated for other clubs are currently at the Tema Harbour awaiting clearance, with distribution set to continue once the process is completed.
