Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has submitted a comprehensive 56-page technical report to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The report was presented during a pivotal meeting with the GFA Executive Council and Regional Football Association Chairmen on November 27, 2024, which focused on Ghana’s lackluster qualification campaign. The Black Stars’ failure to win any of their six matches ended a 20-year streak of AFCON appearances, prompting nationwide frustration.
In the report, Addo provided a detailed analysis of the team’s shortcomings, taking full responsibility for the disappointing results. He acknowledged gaps in discipline, accountability, and teamwork within the squad and outlined a roadmap for rebuilding, including the introduction of a cohesive playing philosophy and fostering a culture of trust and commitment among players and staff.
The GFA leadership expressed their dissatisfaction, echoing the sentiments of disappointed fans, and demanded urgent steps to restore the team’s competitive edge. Broader stakeholder consultations were also announced to formulate a long-term strategy for the Black Stars’ revival.
With the AFCON setback, Ghana’s focus now shifts to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The GFA reiterated its commitment to rebuilding a formidable national team capable of reclaiming its status as a powerhouse in African football.
