Andre Ayew, the captain of the Black Stars, expressed his aspiration to secure an Africa Cup of Nations title, emphasizing its significance in earning the status of a great player.
In a reflective moment during a press conference before Ghana’s match against Cape Verde, the 34-year-old Le Havre player acknowledged his 17-year journey with the national team as a dream come true.
Ayew, appreciative of his international career, emphasized the need for continued dedication and hard work. He shared, “Things have been going well, and I thank God for the international career that I’ve had, but I believe that there is much to be done. You never know when your moment will arrive, so what is important is to believe, work hard, keep working, and one moment that star will come along.”
While acknowledging the fabulous nature of his career, Ayew expressed his ultimate goal, stating, “But through all these years, I think the dream is fabulous, but if I want to be great and to be at the pinnacle before the end, then I want to be able to lift that trophy one day.”
The Black Stars, captained by Ayew, are set to commence their campaign against Cape Verde tonight at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, with kick-off scheduled for 8 pm.
