Asante Kotoko ended their four-game losing streak with an impressive 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday. The result provided much-needed relief for the Porcupine Warriors and their under-pressure head coach, Prosper Ogum.
Patrick Asiedu gave Kotoko an early lead in the 10th minute with a spectacular free-kick that struck the underside of the crossbar before finding the back of the net. Overjoyed, Asiedu celebrated by sprinting to the touchline to embrace Coach Ogum, a moment that highlighted the team’s unity amidst recent struggles.
Albert Amoah sealed the victory on the hour mark, marking his return from injury in style. Positioned perfectly, Amoah tapped in a precise cross to double Kotoko’s advantage and secure all three points.
However, the game was marred by a second-half delay following an alleged invasion of the match officials’ dressing room by Aduana fans. The incident created tension at the stadium, but play resumed under heightened security.
The victory lifts Asante Kotoko to seventh place on the league table with 18 points from 12 matches. Aduana FC, meanwhile, remain in 14th place with 12 points, facing mounting challenges this season.
“This is a turning point for us,” said Coach Ogum after the match. “We’ve shown resilience, and now we must keep this momentum to climb further up the table.”
