Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo faces a challenging seven-month recovery period due to a severe injury sustained during a friendly match in Mexico.
Aidoo, who plays for La Liga’s Celta Vigo, was promptly flown back to Spain for a thorough assessment.
The club has officially announced that Aidoo’s journey to full fitness will be a demanding one, with an expected absence of approximately six to seven months from competitive matches.
This unexpected setback presents challenges for both the player’s personal goals and Celta Vigo’s defensive options.
Celta Vigo’s official statement reads:
“RC Celta’s head of medical services, Juan José García Cota, conducted surgery this morning on central defender Joseph Aidoo, who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a match with his national team last Saturday.
The procedure, which proceeded without complications and occurred early in the morning at Vigo’s Fremap Hospital, involved the reconstruction of the tendon with reinforced sutures and the application of growth factors.
The defender in light blue will be sidelined for a minimum of 6-7 months. The club extends its heartfelt encouragement and support to Aidoo, wishing him a full and speedy recovery.”
