Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana’s anticipated transfer from Southampton to Ajax Amsterdam has officially collapsed.
This development was confirmed by Italian football insider Fabrizio Romano, who shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Earlier this week, Romano had reported that a potential move was in the works for Sulemana following the closure of the primary transfer window on August 30.
The deal gained momentum when Dutch football media personality Mike Verweij revealed that Ajax had submitted the necessary transfer documents for Sulemana in the final minutes before the deadline, with the files pending review by FIFA.
However, the transfer has now fallen through, as confirmed by Romano, ending the possibility of Sulemana becoming the latest Ghanaian international to join the ranks of the Dutch giants.
The move was seen as a strategic replacement for Steven Bergwijn, who recently departed Ajax for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. Sulemana, a product of the Right To Dream Academy, was viewed as a key addition to bolster Ajax’s attacking options.
Currently sidelined with an injury, Sulemana has yet to feature in the 2024-2025 season and was consequently left out of the Black Stars’ squad for their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
