Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah has added another trophy to his collection with Columbus Crew, as the Ohio-based club clinched the 2024 Leagues Cup.
Yeboah, who previously captained Ghana’s U23 team, was on the bench as Crew delivered a powerful second-half performance to overcome LAFC, in a rematch of last year’s MLS Championship final.
Columbus Crew secured their victory with a brace from MVP Cucho Hernandez and a goal by Jacen Russell-Rowe, which overshadowed a consolation strike from former Arsenal and AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud for Los Angeles FC.
With this triumph, Yeboah becomes the first Ghanaian player to win the Leagues Cup, adding it to the MLS title he secured with the team last season.
Currently, Columbus Crew sit third in the Eastern Conference standings, with three games in hand, and are well-positioned to potentially secure the top seed as the regular season progresses.
Yeboah, who joined Columbus Crew in 2021 from Polish club Wisla Krakow, has become an integral part of the team’s success.
