Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew has achieved a significant milestone in his illustrious career by reaching 91 appearances for the Black Stars.
The 31-year-old forward has now equaled the record held by celebrated fullback John Paintsil, securing his place as the fourth most capped Ghanaian player in history.
Ayew accomplished this remarkable feat while captaining Ghana to a victory over the Central African Republic during the final round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The match concluded with Ghana prevailing 2-1, thanks to goals from Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah, orchestrating a remarkable comeback at the Baba Yara Stadium. This victory not only secured Ghana’s 10th consecutive AFCON qualification but also marked their 24th overall appearance in the tournament.
Jordan Ayew’s achievement places him alongside John Paintsil in the rankings with 91 appearances, with only his brother Andre Ayew (114), Asamoah Gyan (109), and Richard Kingson (93) ahead of him in the list of most capped Ghanaian players.
Since making his debut for the Black Stars in 2010, Jordan Ayew has consistently been a pivotal figure within the national team, earning the trust of nearly every coach he has played under.
In addition to his impressive appearances, he has found the back of the net on 19 occasions, tying him for ninth place on the all-time goalscorers list for Ghana.
Jordan Ayew has also made his mark as a Ghanaian player on the international stage, notably breaking the long-standing record as the all-time top scorer from Ghana in the English Premier League, surpassing Anthony Yeboah’s historic record.
