Richmond Ayi, the goalkeeper for Hearts of Oak, has reportedly come to an agreement with the club’s management to leave ahead of the upcoming season.
After spending five years with the Phobians, Ayi’s time with the team has come to an end, and he is now expected to seek a new club before the start of the 2023/24 season.
In 2018, the 26-year-old goalkeeper joined Hearts of Oak after departing from WAFA. However, during his time at the club, he was unable to solidify his position as a key player.
Despite having a two-year deal remaining on his current contract, the former WAFA goalkeeper is leaving the Ghanaian giants. He had previously extended his contract for an additional three years in 2022, which would have allowed him to stay at the club until 2025.
Ayi informed the club of his decision to leave, and the former Ghana Premier League champions have granted his request.
The specific reasons for Ayi’s departure as the former Black Meteors goalkeeper have not been disclosed at this time.
During the 2020/21 football season, Ayi was part of the squad that achieved a treble, and he also played a role in helping the Phobians secure back-to-back FA Cup titles.
