The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has announced the end of the government’s World Cup ticket support scheme after distributing 2,922 tickets to Ghanaian supporters for the Black Stars’ three group-stage matches.
According to the Ministry, the tickets were allocated to selected fans, recognised supporter groups, sponsors, stakeholders and members of the Ghanaian diaspora through the country’s diplomatic missions in the United States and Canada. The tickets were issued electronically using FIFA’s official ticketing platform.
The Ministry acknowledged that the demand for tickets exceeded the available allocation, leaving many supporters unable to secure seats for the matches.
With Ghana advancing to the Round of 32 to face Colombia, the Ministry clarified that there will be no government-sponsored ticket arrangement for the remainder of the tournament. Supporters wishing to attend future Black Stars matches have been advised to purchase tickets directly through FIFA’s official ticketing platform or authorised ticket agencies.
The Ministry also announced that the full list of beneficiaries of the ticket support programme will be released at a later date and urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the Black Stars as they progress in the competition.
