Hearts of Oak are continuing their reconstruction efforts by securing the services of three players from Asekem Football Club (FC), a team in the Access Bank Division One.
Following a challenging 2022/23 football season, during which they narrowly avoided relegation by finishing 12th in the league standings with a mere two-point margin, Hearts of Oak are actively working to rebuild. They faced disappointments not only in failing to retain the MTN FA Cup but also experiencing a lackluster performance in the CAF Confederation Cup, exiting during the second round of qualifiers after a defeat to AS Real Bamako from Mali.
To spearhead this rebuilding phase, the recently appointed technical team of the club has successfully secured the talents of three players from Asekem FC, a team competing in Division One Zone One. The trio consists of midfielder Raphael Amponsah and forwards Evans Adomako and Martin Karikari, all of whom have committed to long-term contracts with Hearts of Oak.
In the previous season, these players played pivotal roles for Asekem FC, contributing significantly to their 7th place finish in the Division One Zone two league standings for the 2022/23 season. Particularly noteworthy, Martin Karikari emerged as the team’s top scorer, having netted an impressive 12 goals.
With their signatures now inked, Raphael Amponsah, Evans Adomako, and Martin Karikari have seamlessly integrated into the club’s training sessions as they gear up for the upcoming 2023/24 football season. These three acquisitions mark the latest additions to the team during this transfer window, following the arrivals of Kelvin Osei Asibey from Eleven Wonders and Liventus Arthur from Tamale City.
As the new season beckons, Hearts of Oak are poised to commence their campaign with an away fixture against Real Tamale United (RTU) on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
