Ghana and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has opened up about his preferred position on the pitch, revealing that although he is capable of operating across the entire frontline, he feels most comfortable and effective on the wings.
Speaking on the AllOutFootball Podcast, the 26-year-old Ghana international reflected on his tactical evolution, having played in multiple attacking roles throughout his career.
“I can play everywhere to be fair. I started off as a nine, a midfielder, went back to nine and winger now, but I can play everywhere to be fair,” Semenyo explained.
When asked by former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott to pinpoint his favourite position, Semenyo was more specific about where he thrives most.
“Right and left,” he said, highlighting his preference for both flanks.
Semenyo has been in impressive form for Manchester City this season, netting 15 Premier League goals and underlining his importance to Pep Guardiola’s attacking system. His fluidity across the frontline has allowed him to seamlessly switch between central and wide roles, making him a constant threat to defenders.
Beyond his club form, Semenyo also discussed Manchester City’s title ambitions and expressed concern over the potential absence of Ghana teammate Mohammed Kudus from the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to injury setbacks.
