Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi has shared his joy after receiving his first call-up to the Ghana senior national team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The 24-year-old took to social media to express his pride, calling it a “dream come true.” “I have been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time and it’s a dream come true and it shows I made the right decision by joining Asante Kotoko,” he told Kotoko media.
Antwi’s selection follows a series of standout performances for Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League this season. The midfielder has been ever-present for the Porcupine Warriors, contributing a goal and helping the team contend strongly for the league title.
His call-up aligns with Black Stars coach Otto Addo’s strategy of incorporating fresh talent into the squad, with Antwi joining other local-based players Razak Simpson and Isaac Afful for the crucial qualifiers.
Antwi’s journey has been a remarkable one; he joined Kotoko in July after a challenging season with Great Olympics, where he faced relegation. His progress from battling relegation to representing Ghana at the national level speaks to his resilience and growth.
The Black Stars will face Angola in Luanda on November 15, followed by a home fixture against Niger in Accra on November 18.
