Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has put an end to speculation about his future by confirming that he will remain at Anderlecht for the upcoming season, despite interest from other European clubs.
Ashimeru, who has attracted attention from clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach, has decided to focus on his current team.
“In football, everything changes quickly, but at the moment I only think about Anderlecht,” said Ashimeru in an interview with La Dernière Heure. “After the obligations with the national team, I will go straight to the club to start the new season.”
Since joining Anderlecht on a permanent basis in 2021, Ashimeru has experienced a mix of performances due to injuries. He has shown glimpses of his potential, but also faced challenges, similar to his time under the management of Vincent Kompany.
Currently, Ashimeru is with the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, in Madagascar for a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for Sunday.
With a contract that runs until 2025, Ashimeru’s commitment to Anderlecht provides the club with stability as they prepare for the upcoming season.
