Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says he was really hurt when Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC supporters booed him on the pitch.
This happened to the Ghana legend when he chose to play for Legon Cities FC instead of the Porcupine Warriors club.
Gyan had been tipped to join Kotoko, due to his confessed love for the Reds but that move did not materialize.
Speaking to Asaase Radio on Tuesday, he said, “I came to Legon Cities because my house is in Accra but Asante Kotoko is my team and scoring against Hearts of Oak is in my DNA.”
He added, “To be honest when Legon Cities played against Asante Kotoko and my own Kotoko fans booed me, to be honest that really hurt but I got over it and realised that it is all love; it did hurt though.”
Young Asamoah Gyan banged in 10 goals in 16 games before he left Liberty in 2003. Since then, he has scored 168 goals for nine clubs.
The formet Sunderland player is Black Stars all time top scorer with 51 goals and has more goals at the FIFA WORLD CUP TOURNAMENT than any other African player.
