Ghanaian duo Ibrahim Sadiq and Ernest Poku delivered standout performances for AZ Alkmaar on Saturday night, both getting on the scoresheet in their side’s thrilling 3-3 draw against NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The two wingers were instrumental in their team’s attacking display during the Week 27 encounter of the 2024/25 Dutch top-flight season.

Sadiq wasted no time in making an impact, finding the back of the net with a clinical finish just four minutes into the game to give AZ Alkmaar an early lead. However, NEC Nijmegen responded swiftly, equalizing in the 10th minute through Vito van Crooij.

Determined to regain control, Poku showcased his talent with an impressive individual effort, scoring in the 32nd minute to restore AZ Alkmaar’s advantage before halftime.

The young Ghanaian winger continued to impress in the second half, providing an assist for Troy Parrott, who extended AZ Alkmaar’s lead just one minute after the break.

Despite holding a two-goal cushion, AZ Alkmaar couldn’t hold on for the win as NEC Nijmegen staged a late comeback. Kento Shiogai pulled one back before Vito van Crooij struck again to ensure the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

Although AZ Alkmaar missed out on all three points, Sadiq and Poku delivered exceptional performances, further highlighting their importance to the team.
