James Essilfie, CEO of Medeama SC, has expressed surprise over the exclusion of midfielder Salim Adams from the latest Ghana national football team squad for friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Coach Otto Addo named 26 players for the matches, with Benjamin Asare the only home-based player included. Despite calls for Adams’ inclusion, Addo has opted for other midfield options for the upcoming games.
Speaking to Medeama FM, Essilfie said,
“I’m a bit surprised Salim Adams didn’t earn a call-up. But I’m confident he will be included in the World Cup squad if he keeps working hard.”
The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for Medeama this season, scoring five goals in 21 league appearances as the club chases its second Ghana Premier League title. Since joining from Hearts of Oak at the start of the 2025/26 season, Adams has become a key figure under coach Ibrahim Tanko, impressing with energy, creativity, and tactical intelligence in midfield.
Adams has previous national experience, featuring for Ghana’s U23 side, earning two caps and scoring once. His early career included a move from New Edubiase United to Hearts of Oak in 2021, followed by a loan spell at FC Cincinnati 2, where he further honed his technical and physical attributes.
