At 27 years old, Richmond Lamptey considers it an honor to represent his country in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Expressing his commitment to selflessly give his best during the tournament, Lamptey attributes his place in the final Black Stars squad to his unwavering, never-give-up attitude.
Ghanaians rallied for Lamptey’s inclusion in the squad, recognizing his outstanding performances for Asante Kotoko SC in the Ghana Premier League. Lamptey, a product of the WAFA Academy, sees his inclusion as a dream come true, emphasizing that giving up was never an option for him.
In an interview before heading to the team’s camp, Lamptey stated, “It is a dream come true for me. Giving up is not an option because we all know where I’ve been through, and as a professional player, I know what I want. Things like these do not shake you. You just have to be moving on.”
Lamptey, who contributed six assists and scored two goals for Asante Kotoko SC in the league’s first round, now joins his fellow teammates in camp, having already participated in his initial training session with the Black Stars.
