Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured Ghanaians that the team is determined to change their fortunes, starting with their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday.
Ghana is set to play Chad in one of two matches during the March international window, with preparations already in full swing. The team began training on Monday, March 17, as they gear up for their encounters against Chad and Madagascar.
On Tuesday, March 18, officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation visited the Accra Sports Stadium to observe the training session. Despite Ghana’s failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades and their recent struggles, Ayew, who now leads the team as captain, remains hopeful.
“We know we are in a difficult situation, but we will turn it around,” Ayew said after joining the squad for training. “When I see you guys (officials from the GFA, NSA, and Ministry of Sports and Recreation) standing here, I know that definitely it’s going to be a positive result on Friday.”
Ghana currently shares the top spot in their World Cup qualifying group with Comoros, both having nine points. The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar three days later.
