Jordan Ayew has stated that his stoppage-time goal against Ipswich Town on Saturday at Portman Road is a significant boost for his confidence, especially after being limited to a substitute role in Leicester City’s last three matches of the season.
The 32-year-old Black Stars attacker came off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw for Steve Cooper’s side, showcasing his ability to make a crucial impact despite a lack of playing time.
In Leicester City’s last five games, Ayew has started only once and played just four minutes in the match against Ipswich. His impressive goal resulted from a well-coordinated buildup that he was involved in.
Speaking after the match, Ayew reflected on the importance of training in preparing for such moments. “That’s why you do finishing in training,” he explained to Leicester media. “You need to know how to handle this type of situation, and I’m happy because it went in. I had the first one that was cleared off the line, and the second one went in. I’m really, really pleased, and it’s good for confidence.”
Ayew continued, “It’s good for us as a squad as well for confidence, and we keep on fighting. We knew that this season would not be easy; we will have some ups and downs, and that’s part of the journey, so on to the next one.”
