Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew credited a fruitful warm-up session for boosting his confidence before the match against Everton, where he scored a thunderous goal – his first of 2024 – in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.
Reflecting on his performance, Ayew revealed his pre-match intuition, stating, “In the warm-up, I scored maybe five in a row, so I had a good feeling today! Sometimes things go your way, sometimes they don’t go your way, but you still need to keep pushing, and that’s what I’ve been doing throughout my whole career.”
The Ghanaian forward’s strike came in the 66th minute, but it was later cancelled out by Amadou Onana’s header, resulting in a shared point for both teams.
While Ayew acknowledged his goal, he emphasized the collective effort, saying, “The most important thing for me is the team, and we’re happy to go home with a point.”
He also praised the resilience shown by Crystal Palace in a challenging away fixture, highlighting the team’s determination to secure a positive result.
Ayew took a moment to express his gratitude towards former manager Roy Hodgson, who recently stepped down from his role at the club. He described Hodgson as instrumental in his development both on and off the pitch, thanking him for his guidance and support.
Looking ahead, Ayew expressed optimism about the squad’s readiness to welcome the new manager and maintain their focus on upcoming challenges.
With his goal against Everton, Ayew’s season tally rises to three goals and five assists, marking a significant contribution to Crystal Palace’s campaign.
