Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has called for national unity and unwavering support for the Black Stars following the announcement of a new management committee and a revamped technical team.
The changes come after Ghana’s disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). As part of the overhaul, Winfried Anton Schäfer has been appointed as Technical Advisor and Director of Football, with Desmond Ofei, Kris Perquy, and Gregory De Grauwe joining to strengthen the team’s tactical and psychological approach. While John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda retain their positions, Joseph Lauman has been relieved of his role as assistant coach.
“With the announcement of both the management committee of the Black Stars and a revamped technical team, it’s now our time to be truly Ghanaian and get behind our team once again,” Okraku said. “Ghana, our beloved country, has gone through this challenging period before, but by sticking together, we always came out stronger.”
Okraku emphasized the importance of unity as the team sets its sights on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He passionately called on Ghanaians to support the players, stating, “Our players need you!! Our players need us… It is time!!!!”
The GFA president remains hopeful that with collective effort and support, the Black Stars can rebuild and return to their winning ways.
