The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of renowned sports psychologist Kris Perquy as the Black Stars’ Team Psychologist. This move is part of the GFA’s efforts to bolster the technical setup of the senior national football team.
Kris Perquy brings over 17 years of experience in sports psychology, having worked extensively with professional athletes to improve their mental well-being and performance. Notably, he spent 15 years with the Belgian Football Association, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing psychological support for players and coaches.
The GFA expressed confidence in Perquy’s expertise, stating that his appointment will provide the Black Stars with world-class psychological care tailored to the team’s needs. His role will focus on improving the mental strength and resilience of players as they prepare for key tournaments and competitions.
Beyond his work with the Black Stars, Perquy is also tasked with designing and delivering training programs for coaches and team psychologists across Ghana’s national teams and football clubs. This initiative is expected to elevate the overall standard of sports psychology in Ghanaian football.
The appointment highlights the GFA’s commitment to adopting a holistic approach to player development, ensuring both physical and mental readiness at the highest level.
