Ghanaian attacking midfielder Kwame Poku played a crucial role in Peterborough United’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Notts County in the second round of the English FA Cup on Saturday at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The 23-year-old was instrumental throughout the game, featuring for the full 90 minutes and providing the assist for Ricky-Jade Jones’ opening goal just 10 minutes into the match.
Despite taking the early lead, Peterborough found themselves trailing at halftime after Cedwyn Scott and Matty Platt scored in quick succession for Notts County.
In the second half, Peterborough mounted a spirited comeback. Ricky-Jade Jones equalized in the 73rd minute with his second goal of the match, and Joel Randall gave the home side the lead after an assist from Abraham Odoh.
Odoh then sealed the victory with a well-taken goal three minutes before full time. Although George Abbott pulled one back for Notts County in stoppage time, it wasn’t enough to deny Peterborough the win.
Kwame Poku has been in exceptional form for the League One outfit this season, registering 10 goals and 8 assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. His latest performance further cements his reputation as a key player for the team.
