Olympique Lyon and Everton have reportedly reached an agreement on a €20 million transfer fee for Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah, according to RMC Sport.
While negotiations over personal terms are still ongoing, there is optimism that the deal will be finalized soon.
Nuamah, 21, joined Lyon in August 2023 from Belgian side Molenbeek, a club also owned by Lyon’s majority shareholder, John Textor. Initially signed on loan, Lyon activated his purchase option for €28.5 million last summer.
However, the winger has struggled to make a significant impact, scoring just four goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. This season, he netted once in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Lyon’s ongoing financial difficulties, exacerbated by DNCG sanctions, have forced the club to offload several players. Alongside Nuamah’s expected departure, academy graduate Maxence Caqueret has been sold to Serie A side Como for €15 million, while Wilfried Zaha’s loan from Galatasaray was terminated, allowing his move to MLS club Charlotte FC.
Everton, currently seeking reinforcements, view Nuamah as a promising addition to their squad as they aim to strengthen their attacking options.
