In another exciting news for the newly crowned German Champions, Nigeria’s 22-year-old striker Victor Boniface has been nominated as the Rookie Player of the Season for 2023/24 in the Bundesliga.
The Nigerian beat Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen of Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, and Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier to the award.
The 23-year-old joined Xabi Alonso’s majestic Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union SG in a deal worth €20.5 million.
Boniface has scored 20 goals and provided 9 assists in 32 games in all competitions. He has helped Bayer 04 Leverkusen win the German Bundesliga for the first time in their history. They are in the finals of the DFB Pokal against Kaiserslautern and the UEFA Europa League finals against Atalanta.
The German Bundesliga Rookie Player of the Year recognises the best young player of the season.
