The Phobian4Life project is the only official membership of Hearts of Oak and everyone that registers is automatically registered and recognized as an official supporter or fan of the club and latest data shows there are currently at most 6, 535 Phobians out there who are died-in-the-wool fans of the 2000 CAF Champions League winner.
Registered members would later have to qualify to receive official membership cards from the club.
The team of Togbe Afede announced on Monday some details of the project and portion of the statement showed the club has so far raised GHC 13, 070 since July 2019 that it was launched.
“The Phobian4Life supporter mobilization project launched by the management of Accra Hearts of Oak last year has so far raised GH¢13,070 in support of the club. This project was launched to help collate the data of our fanbase worldwide. It is open to all Phobians anywhere in the world with an onetime minimum registration fee of GH¢2.00 required. Phobians and other well-wishers of the club can register through mobile money on 0245286686 as the club seeks to compile a comprehensive database of its followers across the world.The club will be providing further updates on the number of registered members as well as monies raised on a regular basis.”
Since each member has to pay a one-time minimum subscription fee of GHC 2 and if we assume each member paid minimum of this amount or it equivalent in dollars or Pounds or Euros then it means at least 6, 535 unique Phobians have subscribed onto the Phobian4Life project to be officially counted as Hearts of Oak fans or supporters.
This figure (6, 535) could however actually be less depending on the specific subscription fee each member paid as members are allowed to pay more than the minimum fee of GHC 2. For instance a GHC 4 subscription fee could represent two unique members or just one member.
