Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has emphasized the deep sense of pride and responsibility he feels playing for the Black Stars, describing the opportunity as a privilege he does not take for granted.
In an interview with NBC Sports, the West Ham United forward reflected on his journey and the influence Ghana’s football legends had on him growing up. Kudus said wearing the national jersey comes with the duty to inspire the next generation.
“It’s a huge privilege to represent our country of [nearly] 40 million people as one of the players for the Black Stars. It means so much to me. Growing up, I watched most of the legends playing for the team and they served as motivation for me,” Kudus shared.
“Now, I’m in that position, so I see it as a responsibility to do things right, set an example, and be a good role model for the kids looking up to me.”
The 24-year-old, who has emerged as one of Ghana’s most promising talents in recent years, added that his mission goes beyond personal success.
“I want to show them that it’s possible to achieve even greater things and do better than what I’m doing right now,” he added.
Despite not being at his very best this season, Kudus has continued to deliver solid performances for West Ham in the Premier League. His efforts have reportedly attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Liverpool, ahead of the summer transfer window.
As a key figure for both club and country, Kudus continues to carry the hopes of many young Ghanaians who see him as a symbol of what is possible through hard work and dedication.
