Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, has expressed his surprise over the lack of communication between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the Black Satellites’ participation in recent friendly matches in Europe.
In an interview on Akoma FM, Fianoo revealed that the Sports Ministry was not informed about the U-20 national team’s friendly games in Switzerland, raising concerns about coordination and transparency in Ghana’s football administration.
“I recently learned from the sports ministry that they are unaware of the U20 team’s involvement in the friendly games in Switzerland,” Fianoo stated.
The Black Satellites, Ghana’s U-20 national team, recently faced a tough challenge against Germany U-20, suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat in a friendly match held in Germany on Monday, October 14, 2024. This result has sparked discussions about the preparedness of the team and the arrangements made for such international fixtures.
The defeat to Germany U-20 is seen as a major setback for the Black Satellites, who have a rich history of success at the youth level, including winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009. The loss, combined with the revelation of poor communication, has brought renewed scrutiny on the management of the national youth teams.
The Sports Ministry’s apparent lack of knowledge about the team’s international engagements raises important questions about the oversight and planning processes within Ghana’s football governing bodies.
