Board Member of Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Brimah Akanbi, has confirmed that several former coaches of the club are expressing keen interest in taking over the coaching role left vacant after the recent departure of Martin Koopman.
The Phobian Club is currently without a head coach, following a mutual parting of ways with Koopman, who stepped down after just four months in charge.
Addressing the situation in a press conference held on Monday, Alhaji Akanbi disclosed that notable names such as Kenichi Yatsuhashi, David Duncan, Samuel Boadu, and other former Hearts of Oak coaches are actively seeking a return to the club to fill the void left by Koopman.
Following Koopman’s exit, assistant coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru has been appointed as the interim head coach. However, the club’s eighth position on the Premier League log, with 16 points, has sparked interest from former coaches eager to contribute to the team’s success.
As Hearts of Oak gear up to face their sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko, in the Matchday 13 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, the board faces the crucial decision of selecting a new head coach amidst the backdrop of enthusiastic interest from seasoned candidates.
