The head coach of Great Olympics, Bismark Kobi-Mensah, expressed his disappointment with his players after they conceded a goal that he believed was avoidable in their Ghana Premier League week 26 game against Aduana stars.
Youngster Frank Owusu’s goal extended the Fire boys’ lead on the league standings to 6 points.
As a former Karela United boss, Kobi-Mensah was unhappy with how his team allowed the ball to land in the net and stated that his players were making his job difficult.
In an interview with StarTimes, he said, “I am seriously very disappointed, especially the way we conceded the goal. I mean, when you are serious, you can’t concede a goal like this.”
He went on to say that his team had let themselves down, and that they needed to learn how to win and manage games better, as passing the ball in the 6-yard box under pressure was not acceptable.
Kobi-Mensah emphasized that it was not the coach’s job and that he felt very sad about the situation.
“Seriously, I am very very disappointed especially the way we conceded the goal. I mean when you are serious you can’t concede a goal like this.
“I think we have let ourselves down. I’m not happy. They’re making things difficult for me. This is not a game that we should lose and looking at the mechanics and what happened in the game.
“I think players have to learn how to win games, how to manage games because you can’t pass the ball in the 6-yard box when you’re under pressure.
“This is not the coach’s job. It’s just unfortunate. I feel so sad.”
After the defeat, Great Olympics dropped into the relegation zone, occupying the 16th position on the league table.
