Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey delivered a stellar performance, providing an assist in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners capitalized on set-pieces to secure the win, with defenders Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scoring the decisive goals. This result marked Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim’s first loss in English football and allowed Arsenal to close the gap at the top of the Premier League standings.
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has become a formidable force from set-pieces, scoring 22 goals from corners since the start of last season—more than any other Premier League side.
While Arsenal controlled the game, Manchester United had a few bright moments. Diogo Dalot fired a shot wide in the first half, while Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced a stunning save to deny Matthijs de Ligt in the second half.
Arsenal substitutes Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz also tested Onana as the Gunners dominated the final stages of the match.
The Black Stars deputy captain, Thomas Partey, played the full 90 minutes, showcasing his exceptional form in midfield and contributing to Arsenal’s dominance. His assist for Saliba’s goal further highlighted his influence in the game.
So far this season, Partey has registered two goals and one assist in 13 Premier League appearances, cementing his role as a key player for the Gunners.
With the win, Arsenal climbed to third place in the Premier League standings with 28 points, level with Chelsea and just seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot.
The Emirates Stadium faithful will be hoping for more outstanding performances from Partey and his teammates as the title race heats up.
